For some reason, I associate the Atlantic with cold bleak weather. But the Atlantic coast town of La Rochelle [La-Rochelle-travel-guide-1313568] was a scorcher.
La Rochelle's main feature is the "Vieux Port" ("Old Harbour"), which is at the heart of the city, picturesque and lined with seafood restaurants.
Lucky we managed to find a table under an umbrella in the restaurant.
The town was very prosperous historically when it was a busy port serving trade routes to Canada and the Antilles.
